« Je me souviens des itinéraires empruntés par mon imagination d’enfant, lorsque j’étais explorateur au long cours. Mon travail artistique poursuit ce voyage, dans une lente exploration du réel, du monde sous ses aspects géographiques et contemplatifs.
C’est le récit d’une promenade fictive dans une contrée où alternent sommets, gouffres, vallées, panoramas, paysages topographiques et autres motifs anecdotiques. Cette recherche qui poursuit un idéal romantique se présente comme de simples fragments, comme de petites pièces arbitrairement taillées dans un tissu infiniment plus vaste. (…) Dessiner des paysages c’est la possibilité d’enrichir mon sens de l’orientation au milieu de la confusion et de la précipitation de notre époque. »
Diplômé de l’École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris-Cergy, Le travail de Thomas Andréa Barbey prend la forme de monochromes, en faisant du paysage et des voyages les sujets de son inspiration. Il dessine le récit d’un voyage au long cours, d’une lente exploration du monde sous ses aspects géographiques et contemplatifs. Il est représenté par la galerie Françoise Livinec.
« I recall the paths taken by my childhood imagination when I was an explorer over the long term. My artistic work continues this journey, through a slow exploration of reality, of the world in its geographical and contemplative aspects. It is the story of a fictional stroll through a land where peaks, abysses, valleys, panoramas, topographical landscapes, and other anecdotal motifs alternate. This quest, pursuing a romantic ideal, appears as simple fragments, like small pieces arbitrarily cut from an infinitely larger fabric. (…) Drawing landscapes offers an opportunity to enrich my sense of direction amidst the confusion and haste of our time. »
A graduate of the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris-Cergy, Thomas Andréa Barbey’s work takes the form of monochromes, making landscape and travel the subjects of his inspiration. He draws the story of a long journey, a slow exploration of the world in all its geographical and contemplative aspects. He is represented by the Françoise Livinec gallery.
