Création originaleLorsqu’une étoile meurt, l’effondrement de sa structure provoque une explosion dont l’énergie est proprement inimaginable. C’est une supernova. La matière expulsée se propage alors dans l’espace et nous traverse en permanence. Nova Stella permettra de voir, entendre, sentir et imaginer la matière même de l’univers à partir de ces phénomènes. Thibaut Bellière et Paul Duncombe ont choisi de se concentrer sur ce qui est permis d’en saisir comme l’activité nucléaire aléatoire et chaotique qu’ils provoquent dans l’atmosphère. Des profondeurs de l’univers aux particules élémentaires, Nova Stella s’attachera à rendre tangible ces différents mécanismes de la nature à partir de deux cosmo-détecteurs (le muoscope et la chambre à brouillard) et des compositions visuelles et sonores en temps réel qui en proposeront une lecture nouvelle et poétique.
Le travail de Thibaut Bellière interroge les attributs de l’image. Bien que toutes différentes, elles sont constituées de couleurs, lignes et lumières. L’immatérialité numérique modifie obligatoirement son statut. Dotée d’une reproductibilité infinie , peut-on alors encore statuer que l’« unique » existe à l’heure du numérique ? Il a exposé à Caen à l’ésam Caen/Cherbourg, au 102 ter et à l’Abbaye-aux-Dames ainsi qu ‘à Lowel (États-Unis), Oslo et La Vallée à Bruxelles. Il bénéficie d’une résidence de mars à juin 2018 à L’Artothèque, Espaces d’art contemporain à Caen.
À partir d’une réflexion portée sur les interactions entre être humain et nature, Paul Duncombe explore les différentes échelles du paysage . Ses recherches visent les mécanismes qui lient entre eux les éléments infiniment petits, les horizons lointains et les corps qui les habitent. Il a exposé dans les galeries Thaddaeus Ropac, Rhinocéros & Cie et Smaaks à Paris, à la Villa Mallet-Stevens, au Kyoto Art Center, à la Gaîté Lyrique, au Palais de Tokyo et à La Vallée à Bruxelles.
Nova Stella est une production de Station Mir. Les artistes ont bénéficié de l’aide à la création de la Région Normandie et de la Drac Normandie. Nova Stella a reçu le soutien du DICRéAM ( dispositif pour la Création Artistique Multimédia et Numérique du CNC) . En partenariat avec la région Normandie, le Laboratoire de Physique Corpusculaire , le Grand Accélérateur National d’Ions Lourds , le Conseil Régional de Normandie , l’école s upérieure d’arts & m édias de Caen/Cherbourg, le Dôme , Joseph Larralde (IRCAM) et Les Morphogénistes.
When a star dies, the collapse of its structure produces an explosion of unthinkable energetic proportions. We call this a supernova. This expelled matter is constantly spreading out into space and penetrating our very beings. Nova Stella will enable us to see, hear, feel and imagine the matter of the universe and its movements based on this phenomenon. Thibaut Bellière et Paul Duncombe have chosen to focus on what is possible to grasp of the random and chaotic nuclear activity brought about in the atmosphere. From the deep space to our most elementary particles, Nova Stella will endeavor to render understandable and tangible those different mechanisms of nature with the help of two cosmic-detectors (the muoscope and the cloud chamber which allow us to visualize the passage of ionizing radiation) along with sonic and visual scores in real time providing a new and poetic interpretation.
The work of Thibaut Bellière questions the various properties of image. Despite the fact that they are all differ, they are all commonly constituted of color, line and light. The digital immateriality necessarily changes the status of image. Provided with an infinite reproductibility, could we say that the genuine still exists in this world of data ? Thibault has shown his work in Caen at the fine arts and media school, l’école supérieure d’arts et médias of Caen/Cherbourg, the 102 ter and the Abbaye-aux-Dames and then in Lowel, Massachusetts (USA), Oslo and La Vallée in Bruxelles. He is currently the artist in residence from March to June at the L’Artothèque, Espaces d’art contemporain.
Based on a unique reflection devoted to the interactions between human beings and nature, Paul Duncombe explores different notions of scale we find in the landscape: from a grain of dust to the desert, from a drop of water to the tsunami, from a seed to the forest, the targets of his research are the mechanisms which connect the smallest elements and the remote horizon as well as the material forms they take. He has shown his works in galleries Thaddaeus Ropac, Rhinocéros & Cie and Smaaks in Paris, at the Villa Mallet-Stevens, at the Kyoto Art Center, Gaîté Lyrique, Palais de Tokyo and La Vallée in Bruxelles.
