Rotor est une installation et une performance qui proposent une sonification de données météo de force du vent portée à l’écoute par une lutherie inspirée des rhombes de la préhistoire.
Ce « rhombe-rotor » de forme hélicoïdale est activé par un moteur tournant à une vitesse proportionnelle à l’intensité de différents vents soufflant autour de la planète. Au démarrage de l’installation, la force du vent jouée est celle des coordonnées latitude/longitude du lieu d’exposition, s’en suit une dérive de station en station météo au gré de la direction du vent.
Rotor is an installation and a performance that offers a sonification of wind-strength meteorological data that’s made audible by a string instrument inspired by prehistoric rhombes. This helical « rhombus- rotor » is activated by a motor rotating at a speed proportional to the intensity of different winds blowing around the planet. At the start of the installation, the wind strength played is that of the latitude/longitude coordinates of the exhibition site, followed by a drift from one weather station to another according to the wind direction.
