Une vieille toupie que Mariska de Groot a trouvée sur un marché aux puces a été le point
de départ de cette installation immersive.
Fascinée par ce jouet qui produit une mélodie à trois accords, elle a fait des recherches sur sa technique et son histoire. Il en résulte un orchestre de toupies motorisées dans lequel chaque instrument est accordé différemment.
An old spinning top that De Groot found at a flea market was the starting point for this immersive
installation. Fascinated by this toy that produces a three-chord melody, she researched its
technique and history. The result is a motorised choir, suspended from the ceiling. The result is a
living orchestra of motorised tops in which each instrument is tuned differently.
