En explorant les usages quotidiens et culturels entretenus avec les ordinateurs comme l’archivage, la transmission, la dissémination et le filtrage de grandes quantités d’information, Databank of the Everyday s’interroge sur ce que les médias ont toujours cherché à faire : représenter, organiser et indexer la vie dans des catégories bien définies, qui entrainent dès lors l’utilisateur dans un parcours et dans un récit circulaire à l’infini.
Dedicated to the archives of everyday life, Databank of the Everyday is an «ultimate» database modelled on commercial image banks. By exploring the everyday and cultural uses of computers as a means of archiving, transmitting, disseminating and filtering large amounts of information, Databank of the Everyday questions what the media has always sought to do: represent, organise and index life in well-defined categories, which then lead the user on a journey and into an infinitely circular narrative.
