Tripods One est un robot sonore futuriste. Il esquisse un avenir possible de l’interaction homme-machine – avec des machines et de la musique électronique.
Le robot est joué en direct comme un instrument de musique. De petits mécanismes et des générateurs de sons physiques à l’intérieur de la sculpture produisent les bruits utilisés dans le contexte musical. La machine envisage un dispositif sonore futuriste qui joue de la musique électronique contemporaine par l’intermédiaire de robots musicaux. Lors de la performance, l’artiste est toujours présent sur scène, contrôlant et interagissant avec la machine.
L’installation a été construite dans le cadre d’un vaste processus de conception avec plusieurs prototypes fonctionnels et l’utilisation intensive de technologies de prototypage rapide telles que l’impression 3D, le fraisage CNC et la découpe au laser. L’installation s’inscrit dans la continuité des précédents robots musicaux de Moritz Simon Geist, comme le MR-808 Drum Robot ou la série Glitch Robot.
Producteur de musique et artiste basé à Dresde, Moritz Simon Geist a étudié l’ingénierie mécanique et travaille avec des robots pour créer de la musique électronique. Il a travaillé avec Mouse On Mars, Tyondai Braxton, ou Robert Lippok et a présenté ses œuvres et performances depuis 2012 à la Biennale de Venise (Italie), la Philharmonie de Paris, l’Elbphilharmonie de Hambourg… Le magazine Rolling Stone l’a classé parmi les «10 grandes découvertes musicales» du festival SXSW 2019 à Austin.

« Tripods One » is a futuristic sound robot sketching a possible future of human-machine
interaction—with machines and electronic music.
The robot is played live as a musical instrument, envisioning a futuristic sound device that plays contemporary electronic music via musical robots. During the performance, the artist is always present on stage, controlling and interacting with the machine.
The installation was constructed as part of an extensive design process with multiple functional prototypes and the intensive use of rapid prototyping technologies. « Tripods One » continues the legacy of previous musical robots.
Dresden-based music producer and artist Moritz Simon Geist studied mechanical engineering and works with robots to create electronic music. He has worked with Mouse On Mars, Tyondai Braxton, or Robert Lippok and has presented his works and performances since 2012 at the Venice Biennale (Italy), the Philharmonie de Paris, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg… Rolling Stone magazine ranked him among the « 10 great musical discoveries » at the 2019 SXSW festival in Austin.

In the performance the artist is still present on stage controlling and interacting with the machine.
The installation was build in a broad design process with several design and functional prototypes and the extensive use of rapid prototyping technologies like 3D printing, CNC milling and laser cutting. The installation is the continuation of former music robots by Moritz Simon Geist like the „MR-808 Drum Robot“ or the „Glitch Robot“ series.
