Entropie est un dispositif artistique en cours de d’expérimentation, pensé comme une expérience hybride entre monde réel et métavers.
La version présentée sur la presqu’île de Caen constitue une première étape de recherche , réalisée dans le cadre de la résidence de recherche-création au laboratoire Modulaire (ésam Caen/Cherbourg, Le Dôme, Oblique, Station MIR, Espace Multimédia Gantner) mais aussi dans celui des résidences Arts-Sciences de Débord(i)ons pour le millénaire de Caen, en partenariat avec Le Dôme. Cette étape expérimentale n’est pas une forme achevée : elle se veut un prototype évolutif, appelé à se transformer et à s’enrichir dans le temps et au fil de nouveaux contextes.
À travers des balades sonores et visuelles géolocalisées en réalité augmentée, Entropie invite le public à déambuler simultanément dans deux espaces : un territoire réel marqué par son histoire industrielle et ses transformations urbaines, et le métavers New Atlantis, un environnement virtuel collectif fondé sur l’expérience sonore. Cette double navigation interroge la manière dont réel et virtuel peuvent s’entrelacer et générer de nouvelles formes de récit, de perception et de relation.
En inscrivant cette première phase dans le contexte de la presqu’île de Caen — un site en friche, en transformation et menacé par la montée des eaux — le projet puise dans la fiction spéculative et l’éco-fiction pour imaginer des futurs possibles. Mais Entropie se conçoit avant tout comme un processus évolutif, appelé à se déployer dans d’autres lieux, à se réécrire selon de nouveaux contextes, et à continuer d’expérimenter les potentialités offertes par l’hybridation entre réel et virtuel.
Ainsi, cette étape caennaise se présente comme un terrain d’essai collectif, une invitation à éprouver avec le public la capacité de ce dispositif à ouvrir des espaces partagés et critiques, un outil pour explorer nos futurs urbains, numériques et écologiques.

Entropie is an artistic device currently being experimented with, conceived as a hybrid experience between the real world and the metaverse. The version presented on the Caen peninsula is a first stage of research, carried out as part of the research-creation residency at the Modulaire laboratory (ésam Caen/Cherbourg, Le Dôme, Oblique, Station MIR, Espace Multimédia Gantner) but also as part of the Arts-Sciences de Débordions residencies for the Caen millennium, in partnership with Le Dôme. This experimental stage is not a finished form: it is intended to be an evolving prototype, designed to transform and enrich itself over time and in new contexts.
Through geolocated augmented reality sound and visual walks, Entropie invites the public to wander simultaneously in two spaces: a real territory marked by its industrial history and urban transformations, and the New Atlantis metaverse, a collective virtual environment based on the sound experience. This dual navigation questions the way in which the real and the virtual can intertwine and generate new forms of narrative, perception, and relationship.
By setting this first phase in the context of the Caen peninsula—a brownfield site undergoing transformation and threatened by rising sea levels—the project draws on speculative fiction and eco-fiction to imagine possible futures. Entropie is conceived above all as an evolving process, destined to unfold in other places, to be rewritten according to new contexts, and to continue experimenting with the potential offered by the hybridization of the real and the virtual.
This Caen step is presented as a collective testing ground, an invitation to experience with the public the capacity of this device to open up shared and critical spaces, a tool for exploring our urban, digital, and ecological futures.
